These 5.5oz snack/dessert cups located at the sandwich cooler at my local fresh and easy have caught my attention several times while I have been browsing! They contain either yogurt or cottage cheese, and a topping of nuts, fruit(fresh or dried), or both.

This time around I picked up Pro Yo’ Tropik which consist of,  “Low fat yogurt with dried tropic fruit, almonds and coconut. No artificial colors or flavors.”. Simple enough it seems, and sounds like it could be tasty.

When the container is first opened you can smell the coconut and dried fruit and can almost sense the yogurt! The topping is separated from the yogurt by a small round plastic tray that is supported by the cup’s conic shape

As soon as I had mixed the topping and the yogurt I made my best effort to obtain a balanced spoonful of the mix. My first spoonful provided my taste bud’s with nothing more than an uninviting blast of plain yogurt. As soon as I started to chew the mix, I was slowly greeted by all the different flavors of dried fruit, and almonds complementing each other. Each bite had a unique taste catered by the different proportions of fruit, almonds, and yogurt.

I would definitely purchase this item again. I think this is the perfect snack/dessert for any one trying to live a healthier life. It provides 3g of Fiber, 9g of Protein, 35% calcium all at roughly 200 calories. The tropical trail mix it contains, seems to consist of; Golden Raisins,  Dried Papaya, Dried Pineapple, Almonds, Dried Mango, Coconut, and Dried Apricots (on ingredient list).

Hope you guys enjoy this as much as I did. Cheers!

A very rich chocolate cream and chocolate crust pie topped with whipped cream, and broken pieces of chocolate is simply what Fresh & Easy’s Chocolate Silk Pie is.

At the Net weight of 9.5 oz and roughy a 6 inch diameter, it is packed heavely with Sugar, Saturated Fat, and cholesterol. Like expected this is a one of those treats that should probably only be consumed very rarely!

The pie tasted somehwhat like medicine the very first bite, which I determined was the whipped topping. Other than that the pie was very rich and way too sweet and chocolatey for my pallet.

Along with the usual, this product claimed to be free of artificial colors, preservatives, and flavors.

Some of the ingredients in this dessert include;

Dextrose: Also Known As “Corn Sugar” or Glucose, Aside from the normal wiki article you can read more about it in at the following websites: http://www.sugar.org

Butter, Cream, Palm Oil, Soy Lecithin, Non Fat Milk Powder, Natural Flavor, Carageenan

I would probably recomend this product to anyone not concerned about calories, or fat content, although I want to advice people to make their own choice about the nutritional content of this Dessert, and in regard to taste alone, I would not recomend it due to the unpleasant whipped cream, which was a turn off, but apart from that the chocolate crust and the chocolate cream were rich and delicious!

During My last visit to my F&E I noticed that the usually more less than empty pudding section was full! I took a look and noticed four of the Gelatin flavor’s in their arsenal, So I decided to take it upon myself to review these items.

All four of these flavors had the same type of consistency, and characteristics for their taste, They all had a sweet/sour/tart flavor I would associate with Gummy Bear/Worm candy! These would be great for kids or people who might be fond of sweet/sour candy. Each had their own distinct fruit flavor, and I found that they were all very aromatic.

Staying inline with their claims, the label on the Gel’s has a seal, indicating No Artificial Flavor, or Colors.

These Gel’s are also Gluten Free!

Mango Gel: Mango+Citrus like aroma. (Nutrition Facts Click Here)

Berry Gel: (Raspberry, Blackberry, Blueberry)/Strawberry Aroma (Nutrition Facts Click Here)

Pear Gel: Sweet Pear/Pineapple Aroma (Nutrition Facts Click Here)

Cherry Gel: Sweet Cherry Aroma (Nutrition Facts Click Here)

I particularly enjoyed these Gel’s and the Mango Gel stood out as the best for myself, while we will all probably have our own favorie!
